Boyd
Boyd came to love plants while working in the farm fields of southern Minnesota. This passion led him to pursue a horticultural degree at the University of Minnesota. Prior to opening Rice Lake Gardens, Boyd owned an award-winning landscape business in the Twin Cities.

Barb
Barb and her husband live on an Island Lake lot beautifully landscaped with Barb’s perennial gardens, a pollinator garden, and a large vegetable garden. She has a degree in horticulture and worked as a landscape designer in the Twin Cities for 17 years before moving to Duluth and joining Rice Lake Gardens in 2018.

Belle
Belle got her love of gardening from her mother. She and her husband live on 55 acres of land with fields of native pollinators, four large perennial gardens and a large vegetable garden. We recommend you join her Duluth Area Gardening Enthusiasts Facebook Group.

Bernie
Bernie’s been gardening her whole life. She and her husband live on four acres in Hermantown with perennial and vegetable gardens. While often found in the Rice Lake Gardens vegetable and herb house, Bernie is readily available to help you with annuals and perennials, too.

Suzie
Suzie has been a member of the RLG team for eight years. She and her husband live on 40 acres overflowing with perennial gardens, water features, an orchard with pear, apple, and plum trees, and an expansive vegetable garden. She is a weekly vendor at the Barker’s Island Farmers’ Market and the Downtown Superior Farmers’ Market.

Zech
Zech grew up gardening with his dad in their southern California backyard, and brought his love of succulents and desert plants with him when he moved to Minnesota for college. He’s been a member of the RLG team since 2020. When not caring for his “plant babies,” Zech is studying plant science at the University of Minnesota.
